LDVA Secretary Joey Strickland cordially invites Vietnam Veterans, friends, families, veteran service organizations, and members of the community to a “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” celebration being held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Louisiana Veterans Memorial Park, adjacent to the State Capitol, on Wednesday, March 28.
The former Old Arsenal Park, which was dedicated in Nov. 2017, is the first on state property to recognize the hundreds of thousands of Louisianans who have served, been wounded, or killed in action while serving in the United States Military. Secretary Strickland, who is a combat Vietnam Veteran, feels this is a fitting
location to host a proper welcome home celebration for Louisiana’s Vietnam Veterans.
Hundreds of people from around the state are expected to attend this celebration, including Vietnam Veterans, families, service men and women from across generations and branches of service, Gold Star families, and veteran service organizations.
The day’s events include an the official ceremony, performances by the 156th United States Army Band from Bossier City, remarks by several keynote speakers and Vietnam Veterans, a resource fair, food, drinks, and Vietnam War era music.
